About The Position
The Comptroller's Office is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Tax Auditor I - III for the Chicago Audit Office. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring tax compliance and accuracy for the state of Texas. As a Tax Auditor, you will be part of a team that focuses on increasing tax reporting accuracy and promoting voluntary compliance. The Audit Division employs Tax Auditors nationwide, and your work will directly impact the lives of Texans by ensuring that tax laws are followed and that the state collects the revenue it needs to function effectively. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting audits of taxpayer records, services, and transactions. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality and integrity, as you will be handling sensitive taxpayer information. The first six months of employment will involve in-office training, where you will complete Basic Audit Training with a required overall training grade of 75 or above. After this initial training period, teleworking options will be available according to the Audit Division's policies. You will also be required to travel approximately every three weeks to training centers located in Austin, Dallas, or Houston, with travel reimbursement provided for business needs.
