About The Position

This position will work closely with the Technical Expert and Applications Supervisor to lead/support the global thermal systems teams in A/C Compressor (Belt Driven and Electric) development. The Compressor is a large contributor to the cost of quality within the company. This position will optimize Compressor designs and will interface with Refrigerant, Controls and Vehicle Attribute teams within Thermal Systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Compressor designs and development.
  • Extensive knowledge of Compressor architectures and designs.
  • Master of Engineering (electrical, mechanical, controls, systems, etc.) preferred.
  • Demonstrated systems engineering approach to vehicle refrigerant systems.
  • Proven history of evaluating choices and directing a team based on technical ideals balanced with industrialization realities.
  • Ability to lead and align collections of people that do not directly report to this position.
  • Ability to institutionalize the key factors of thermal systems success and lessons learned through documentation (design rules, requirements, technical design guides, etc.) and to teach associated learning sessions.
  • Ability to form an opinion, communicate it effectively at all levels, and drive the company in a winning direction.
  • Ability to speak with confidence and authority but is humble and collaborative in leading a technical review and debate.

Responsibilities

  • Expertise in Compressor designs to deliver overall vehicle attributes, durability, and reliability.
  • Support global applications teams with package, DV/PV sign off.
  • Work closely with Technical Expert for compressor development with Full Service Suppliers.
  • Assist Technical Expert with creation and maintenance of the Core Engineering Documents (FMA Documents, Requirements and Test Procedures, etc.)
  • Support Technical Design Reviews for Compressor and interaction with subsystems - Refrigerant, NVH, Controls, CAE and FEAD teams.
  • Support Compressor Tech Club alongside Technical Expert.
  • Responsible for resolving quality issues.
  • Review initial circuits designs before EMC, Worst-case circuit analysis & High voltage integration.
  • Analyze and support software reviews with Cybersecurity, OTA, Network Communication (LIN & CAN) teams.
  • Assist Technical Expert for Compressor strategy papers.
  • Lead technical assessment of supplier designs and provide recommendation for sourcing.
  • Provide technical support for cost reduction ideas.
