About The Position

A Compression Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the optimal performance of compression equipment, typically used in the oil, gas, and natural gas industries to move products through pipelines or other systems. The role involves monitoring equipment, troubleshooting issues, and performing routine maintenance to ensure operational efficiency

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Previous experience in equipment maintenance, mechanical work, or a similar field; experience with compression molding is beneficial.
  • Must have excellent attendance.
  • Must have proven ability to operate all production machines in the department.
  • Must be able to monitor quality of machine output.
  • Must have good housekeeping skills.
  • Capable of physical mobility including walking, sitting, bending, twisting, standing, pushing, pulling and routine lifting (up to 35 pounds).
  • Capable of visual acuity to include distinguishing color variation and detecting defects.
  • Able to work in a production environment, recognizing various sounds and alarms
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to perform all duties in a safe and effective manner.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in mechanical and electrical repair, with knowledge of compression systems, engines, and controls.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy in diagnostics and repair.
  • Physical Stamina: Able to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate’s Degree in mechanical or electrical technology may be preferred.
  • Certifications: (Optional) Certifications such as Mechanic Level I/II, or specialized compression training are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on compressors and other mechanical equipment. Conduct repairs and troubleshooting to fix any operational issues with compression equipment.
  • Operational Monitoring: Monitor compressor units for proper operation and performance. Adjust controls, settings, and configurations as needed to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement solutions. Use testing equipment to analyze performance and detect issues.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities. Report on equipment conditions, work performed, and any parts or service needs.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow all health and safety guidelines, including environmental protocols. Ensure compliance with company policies, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, operators, and other technicians to resolve issues. Participate in team meetings and share insights for continuous improvement.
