Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Engineer I position requires zero to one year of related engineering experience.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical writing ability.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Project management skills: ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Engineer II position requires one to three years of engineering experience.
  • Significant engineering knowledge of natural gas industry related to the design and installation of pipelines, compressor stations and process equipment.
  • Sr Engineer position requires five years of industry experience as a practicing engineer and must be a licensed PE or have eight or more years as a practicing engineer if no PE license.
  • Advanced technical degree or registration as a licensed professional engineer in a state served by Northern preferred.
  • Cross functional skills; ability and willingness to cross over to construction coordination or project management work on specific projects.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills to develop and present technical recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, coordinate, design and implement engineering projects.
  • Provide engineering and technical direction services to support the BHECS compression fleet.
  • Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, and cost analysis.
  • Conduct economic and technical feasibility studies, investigating various alternatives, and making recommendations on course of action.
  • Provide engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
  • Keep informed of industry issues and technical trends.
