About The Position

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Ophthalmology seek a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. The Eye Institute is the largest comprehensive ophthalmology department in the state. The nationally recognized Vision Research Center has made profound contributions toward advancing vision science and has collaborative partnerships with other WVU Departments and research institutions to build vision related research. The research program currently is in receipt of seven R01 grants, one COBRE grant, and 16 industry sponsored studies. The WVU Health System Board of Directors approved funding to construct a new 150,000 square foot facility that will allow the WVU Eye Institute to better meet the needs of patients which will include 102 exam rooms, 44 testing rooms, and surgical suites. Requirements

  • Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license.
  • A successful candidate must have completed an ophthalmology residency program.
  • Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in Pediatric Ophthalmology.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will practice comprehensive ophthalmology.
  • In addition to providing excellent patient care, he or she will also be involved in teaching allied health professionals.
  • In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
