About The Position

The Compounding Pharmacy Technician supports the Pharmacist-in-Charge in preparing and dispensing compounded medications with precision and compliance. This role focuses on sterile and non-sterile compounding practices aligned with USP 795, 797 & some USP 800 guidelines. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in a regulated pharmacy setting.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Active Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) in the State of Nebraska
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in a compounding pharmacy setting preferred
  • Knowledge and working application of USP 795 and 797 standards
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with standard pharmacy software and inventory systems
  • Commitment to confidentiality, compliance, and high standards of patient care

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with men’s health medications, hormone therapies, or peptide preparations
  • Experience in sterile compounding (USP 797) or cleanroom operations

Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare and compound non-sterile and sterile medications following USP 795 , 797 and 800 standards
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant compounding environment, including proper gowning, labeling, and documentation
  • Support prescription processing: input, labeling, and recordkeeping in accordance with pharmacy regulations
  • Monitor inventory of compounding ingredients, containers, and supplies; assist with ordering and restocking
  • Follow all safety, HIPAA, and regulatory protocols to protect patient confidentiality and medication integrity
  • Assist with packaging, shipping, and internal communication for patient orders
  • Collaborate effectively with pharmacy team members and clinical staff to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives
  • Maintain a positive and professional presence with both internal teams and patients
  • Follow master formulation records (MFR’s) and prepare compounding records (CR’s) for each batch
  • Operate and maintain compounding equipment such as balances, mixers, and ointment mills
  • Perform proper gowning, hand hygiene, and aeseptic technique to maintain cleanroom sterility
  • Clean and sanitize ISO Class 5 primary engineering controls (PECs), buffer rooms, ante rooms per SOPs.
  • Perform and document routine cleaning, environmental monitoring, and visible surface/air sampling tasks
  • Accurately label and package compounded medications in compliance with state board and USP requirements
  • Maintain inventory of raw materials, supplies, and compounded medications with proper lot tracking.
  • Document all work clearly, completely and in compliance with 503A pharmacy recordkeeping standards
  • Work closely with pharmacists and quality personnel to ensure accuracy and patient safety
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and actively contribute to improvements
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and compliance.
