About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Compounding Pharmacist to join our dynamic 503A compounding pharmacy team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of USP <795> and <800> standards, state and federal pharmacy regulations, and best practices in non-sterile compounding. This role involves overseeing the preparation, verification, and quality assurance of compounded medications while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and patient safety. The Compounding Pharmacist will collaborate closely with compounding technicians and the Quality Control (QC) team to maintain high production standards and operational efficiency within a fast-paced pharmacy environment.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  • Active Florida Pharmacist License in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a 503A compounding pharmacy or equivalent hands-on experience in non-sterile compounding.
  • Thorough understanding of USP <795>, USP <800>, DEA controlled substance regulations, and state-specific compounding requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and commitment to maintaining high quality and safety standards.
  • Proficient in compounding software systems and pharmacy management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Review and sign off on compounding records, formulations, and batch documentation to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance with USP <795>/<800> and state board requirements.
  • Oversee and verify the accurate compounding, labeling, and dispensing of customized medications in accordance with physician prescriptions and established formulations.
  • Verify beyond-use dating (BUD), ingredient sourcing, calculations, and final product quality prior to dispensing.
  • Maintain and enforce compliance with all applicable regulations including USP, DEA, FDA, HIPAA, and state pharmacy laws.
  • Participate in internal audits, CAPA investigations, and quality control procedures related to compounded products.
  • Verify ingredient integrity, lot numbers, and certificates of analysis (COAs) before use.
  • Ensure all documentation, logs, and records are accurate and up to date.
  • Foster a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement, safety, and regulatory compliance.
