About The Position

The Compounder position at Golden State Foods involves batching ingredients with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency while ensuring cleanliness of all equipment. The role requires adherence to safety and food safety standards, as well as compliance with legal regulations. The Compounder will be responsible for understanding formulas, performing quality checks, and maintaining equipment, all while documenting processes accurately.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and present information effectively.
  • Ability to use mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety, food safety, quality, and legal compliance standards.
  • Perform work in accordance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Pass required training and certifications for qualification.
  • Perform lockout tagout as required by company standards.
  • Understand formulas, batch cards, specifications, and critical control points for products.
  • Submit and check required batch samples to the lab for analysis.
  • Be aware of emergency stops and pinch points on processing equipment.
  • Obtain and maintain certification to wear a full-face respirator when handling hazardous materials.
  • Verify all ingredients at the beginning of batching and annotate lot numbers and supplier names.
  • Identify all mix and hold tanks and understand all pipes and connections.
  • Understand basic operation principles of Wilden pumps and PD pumps, and perform minor maintenance.
  • Dismantle and assemble PD pumps, replacing piping gaskets as needed.
  • Identify and use switches/valves to move product as required.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately, including batch cards and WIP traceability sheets.
  • Execute changeovers using guidelines specified in the changeover grid.
  • Adjust batches or rework with Quality Assurance guidance to conform to targets.
  • Adhere to Allergen Control and Allergen Cross-Contact Prevention policies.
  • Document deck batching and all necessary paperwork accurately.
  • Disassemble, clean, rinse, and sanitize all product contact machinery using proper processes.
