About The Position

Join Silgan Closures, America's largest metal food packaging producer, as a Compound Mixer Operator in Evansville, IN. Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist/bend for extended periods
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, perform overhead work, push and pull barrels, and use vibratory tools
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain fork truck certification

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate lift truck (maintain valid driver’s license and pass required lift truck operator testing)
  • Mix ingredients required to produce batches of plastisol in totes or drums.
  • Operate computer controlled power driven mixers and powder conveying equipment
  • Read and follow recipes for plastisol batch production
  • Using computerized quality control testing equipment to perform all quality control lab tests
  • Interpret production schedules and, using lift truck, set up line with materials, drums, totes, and equipment necessary for plastisol production
  • Remove filled drums and totes of plastisol.
  • Remove packaging waste from incoming material
  • Operate paper compactor
  • Unload tanker trucks: Receive, verify and test incoming materials and operate control panel. Connect hoses from tanker to receiving valves and start pumps to unload tanker. Observe unloading process.
  • Paint equipment, operate floor scrubbers and clean as necessary or as directed by supervisor
  • Cycle inventories
  • Perform daily maintenance inspection of lift truck
  • Keep assigned work area neat and clean
  • Relieve as required
  • Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor
  • Handle hazardous waste according to proper procedures as outlined in the Hazardous Waste Management Bulletins including identification, collection, segregation, handling and storage of waste.
