About The Position

We are seeking a highly organized and safety-conscious Grinding Supervisor to oversee the wood grinding operations at our organic recycling facility. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient, safe, and sustainable processing of wood material into high-quality mulch, compost feedstock, or biomass materials. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership skills with hands-on operational expertise.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial operations or recycling, preferably with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience operating a tub or horizontal grinder required.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and safety standards in industrial or recycling operations.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and handle physically demanding tasks as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with other heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, and skid steers is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the wood grinding process, including equipment operation, maintenance, and scheduling.
  • Lead, train, and motivate a team of operators, laborers, and equipment technicians to meet production targets while maintaining safety and quality standards.
  • Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and coordinate preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and facility policies.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including throughput, downtime, and quality metrics.
  • Collaborate with logistics and other facility teams to optimize workflow, inventory, and material handling.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure all team members are trained on equipment and safety procedures.
  • Support management in budgeting, reporting, and operational planning for the wood grinding operation.
