Role Overview: The Composite Structures Technician is responsible for producing and assembling complete composite products or major components. This role requires rotating through multiple tasks within the assembly process rather than performing a single dedicated function. The technician ensures high-quality fabrication, bonding, repair, and inspection of composite structures in accordance with technical documentation and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years of composite manufacturing or related industry experience using hand tools.
  • Experience with structural bonding, fastening, and surface preparation for composite assemblies.
  • Proficiency with standard measuring tools and basic math for inspection and fabrication tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and follow safe work practices, AS9100, and FOD prevention standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hand lay-up of prepreg materials and core materials.
  • Familiarity with laser projection systems for part profiling.
  • Experience with oven curing or autoclave operations.
  • Skill in precision drilling, reaming, honing, and countersinking to close tolerances.
  • Ability to follow detailed SOPs and technical instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and follow blueprints, work orders, and technical instructions to perform composite fabrication and assembly tasks.
  • Cut, trim, assemble, bond, and fasten composite and metallic components using hand tools and precision equipment.
  • Drill, ream, countersink, deburr, and prepare holes and surfaces for fasteners and bonded assemblies.
  • Perform composite repairs, surface preparation, vacuum bagging, and oven/autoclave curing processes.
  • Inspect work using precision measuring tools to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
  • Safely handle materials and equipment, maintain clean work areas, and comply with all safety, regulatory, and documentation standards.
  • Execute tasks across multiple assembly functions, adapting to various processes as needed.
