About The Position

The Composites Manufacturing Technician is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and finishing of composite materials and components used in manufacturing operations. This role supports production by performing layup, curing, trimming, and inspection processes to ensure high-quality composite parts that meet engineering specifications and customer requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with composite materials, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow technical instructions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–3+ years of experience in composite manufacturing, fabrication, or a related field
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications
  • Experience using hand tools, measuring devices, and basic shop equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be a U.S citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with vacuum bagging or resin infusion processes
  • Knowledge of composite materials (carbon fiber, fiberglass, prepreg systems)
  • Experience with quality standards and inspection processes
  • Holds a current or ability to obtain a Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Perform composite layup using materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, and resin systems.
  • Cut, shape, and prepare composite materials according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Assemble composite components using hand tools, molds, and fixtures.
  • Apply vacuum bagging techniques and prepare parts for curing.
  • Operate curing equipment such as ovens and autoclaves (if applicable).
  • Monitor curing cycles and ensure adherence to process parameters.
  • Perform post-cure operations including trimming, sanding, drilling, and finishing.
  • Inspect parts for defects, inconsistencies, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Measure and verify dimensions using appropriate tools and gauges.
  • Document production activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Follow all safety procedures when handling chemicals, resins, and composite materials.
  • Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve issues.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Support production schedules and meet deadlines.
