Safran Aircraft Engines designs, produces, and sells, alone or in partnership, commercial and military aircraft engines offering world-class performance. Through CFM International, Safran Aircraft Engines is the world's leading supplier of engines for single-aisle mainline commercial jets. Safran Aerospace Composites in Rochester, NH is dedicated to the production of 3D woven composite parts, made using the RTM (resin transfer molding) process. The first application of this technology is the production of blades and fan cases for the LEAP (registered trademark) engine, developed by CFM International, designed to power the next generation of single-aisle aircraft. This technology creates less noise and decreases fuel consumption for aircraft engines, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We do this with energy, passion, and curiosity, and we're backed by our rich heritage and culture of innovation. CFM International is a 50/50 joint company between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE. This position will be responsible to successfully perform all tasks associated with, and operate all equipment within, the bonding process (bond layup / de-flash / surface prep), in either the fan blade or fan case value streams. Standard work methods and safe work habits must be followed to ensure conformance to customer requirements. This position reports to a Value Stream Manager and works under the direction of a Team Lead. This is a second shift position, Monday-Thursday, 3:15pm - 1:15am

Requirements

  • High school diploma or high school equivalency required.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Successful completion of relevant coursework in an accredited advanced manufacturing program may be substituted for experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude; familiarity with metric system preferred.
  • Excellent hand eye coordination including the ability to manipulate small items with speed and accuracy.
  • Capable of producing fine finish work and assembling components accurately
  • Requires good organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Capable of working with epoxy and adhesive materials.
  • Ability to participate effectively in a team environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including software data entry and keyboarding.
  • Candidates for positions with Safran Aerospace Composites must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Employment eligibility verification will be required at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with composite materials preferred.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with AS9100C or ISO9001 standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to successfully perform all tasks associated with the bonding process, including kitting, bond layup, vacuum bagging, autoclave setup, surface preparation and operation and de-flash with the appropriate level of supervision.
  • Accurately follow step-by-step work instructions throughout the bonding process (using a variety of computer systems).
  • Inspect all work in accordance with all applicable work instructions and shop procedures.
  • Perform all prescribed preventive maintenance (PM) on applicable equipment and processes as required per the PM charts.
  • Electronically record part parameters using measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Precisely use hand tools such as razor blades, scalpels, hand sanders, as well as air/pneumatic tools.
  • Document material and process deviations through the approved Material Review Report (MRR) process.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement and corrective action processes.
  • Comply with all OSHA regulations related to these operations including but not limited to safety shoes, hearing and eye protection.
  • This individual also has responsibility for the safe handling and movement of hazardous materials, including waste.
