About The Position

E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems. We’re intentional, we’re unapologetically curious and we’re 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life. We are seeking an experienced Composites Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and support the development, scale-up, and optimization of advanced composite structures for aerospace applications. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in composite materials and processes, coupled with hands-on manufacturing experience in a fast-paced production environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in composites manufacturing engineering, preferably in aerospace or high-performance applications.
  • Hands-on expertise with prepreg layup, resin infusion, autoclave/oven cure, bonding, and NDI (non-destructive inspection) techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of composite materials, resin systems, and structural adhesives.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks) and PLM/ERP systems.
  • Experience developing tooling and fixturing for composite components.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements in a production environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, root cause analysis, and statistical process control skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to interface across engineering, production, and leadership teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with shifting priorities and aggressive schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize composite manufacturing processes (layup, cure, bonding, trimming, machining, and assembly).
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust manufacturing work instructions and tooling concepts.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability, repeatability, and cost-effectiveness of composite parts.
  • Conduct process development trials and lead root cause analysis for non-conformances, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Define tooling requirements and support the design, procurement, and qualification of new tooling and fixtures.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in cycle time reduction, yield improvement, and automation of composite processes.
  • Prepare and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), travelers, and control plans.
  • Support supplier qualification and technical reviews for composite materials and processes.
  • Train and mentor technicians and junior engineers on composite processes and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASTM, SAE, NADCAP) and internal quality requirements.
