About The Position

The Composites Engineer will provide engineering support for the design, test, and manufacture of radomes, antenna reflectors, and other related composite products for aircraft, ship, submarine, and ground-based applications. They will also provide project support of composite structures in development and production program. COMPANY OVERVIEW: Who We Are: CPI Radant is the radome-and-composite‐structures division of Communications & Power Industries LLC (CPI). They are formally known as CPI Radant Technologies Division , and they serve the aerospace, defense, naval, and commercial industries by designing, manufacturing, testing and supporting advanced composite radomes, reflectors and structural composite products. What We Do: Radomes are special “domes” made of composite materials that protect antennas and radar systems from the environment while allowing electromagnetic signals to pass. CPI Radant produces these for critical applications, meaning: They enable secure communications and radar/electronic-warfare capabilities for military and commercial aerospace platforms. Their manufacturing includes large apertures and high‐frequency performance. Their advances in composite manufacturing and large structures feed into modern aircraft, satellites, naval vessels, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in manufacturing, material, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Demonstrated familiarity with tooling concepts, material testing, reading and interpreting drawings, familiarity with CAD (such as Fibersim)
  • Familiarity with rough sketches, plans, engineering instructions and technical manuals
  • Willing to consider entry level candidates with materials and related degrees
  • Demonstrated familiarity with MS Office tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with standard test equipment
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of standard operating procedures
  • This position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The successful candidate must be a "U.S. Person as defined under ITAR and EAR. In order to be a U.S. Person for ITAR and EAR purposes, you must (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Nice To Haves

  • Radio frequency and electronics knowledge from the antenna manufacturing industry
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
  • 5 years of related work experience
  • 2 – 5 years related manufacturing engineering experience, preferably on composite radomes and structures
  • LEAN training and Six-Sigma a plus

Responsibilities

  • Project engineering support of composite structures in development and production program
  • Reviewing customer/product specifications
  • Development of manufacturing process specifications for building composite radomes including the tools, fixtures, materials, and assembly procedures for all products
  • Maintaining reliable process procedures/product quality and status
  • Process improvements
  • Technical writing, including reports and work instructions
  • Data collection, manufacturing material allowances (BOM)
  • Estimating manufacturing allowances for proposals
