About The Position

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service. Overview We are seeking an experienced and skilled Composite Trim Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for trimming and finishing composite parts to meet specified requirements and quality standards. Your expertise in composite materials and precision trimming techniques will play a crucial role in ensuring the final quality sign off and fit of the composite components. Aviation is dedicated to training and developing individuals with potential, and we are looking for apprentices who are eager to learn and grow within our company. Shift Schedules below: 1 st shift - Monday – Thursday: 7AM- 5:30PM 2 nd shift- Monday - Thursday: 5:30PM - 4:00AM 3 rd shift -Friday - Sunday: 6AM - 6:30PM

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Experience working in fast-paced, time sensitive environments
  • Demonstrated abilities following standardized work instructions, technical requirements, and executing standard processes.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
  • Continuous standing, squatting, bending, pulling, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday.
  • Lifting of 50 lbs. or less
  • Must wear PPE when .
  • Have no known allergies to epoxies or other composites materials and able to become certified to wear a respirator.
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces
  • Ability to become forklift, crane, or equipment certified

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of manufacturing experience
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a high-volume production environment that relies on a well-defined process to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S environments.

Responsibilities

  • Trim excess material from composite parts using various tools such as routers, sanders, and saws.
  • Follow engineering drawings and specifications to achieve precise dimensions and contours.
  • Perform surface preparation and finishing tasks, including sanding, buffing, and polishing.
  • Conduct quality inspections to identify any defects, imperfections, or irregularities in the trimmed parts.
  • Collaborate with the production team to meet production schedules and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Adhere to standardized work instructions and technical requirements
  • Communicate closely with Manufacturing Engineering on jobs that require oversight or deviate from standard process
  • Follow standard rework procedures, including resin repairs, to meet quality specifications
  • Strive to continually improve quality, 5S, and productivity within areas of responsibility, knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Demonstration through participation of FMDS, shop cleanings, internal audits, e tc.
