About The Position

The Space Division at Leidos has an opening for a Composite Structures Verification Engineer to work in our Decatur, AL facility. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the team to perform structural qualification testing on large hardware with up to 4 million pounds of load. Primary Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for assembly, integration and evaluation activities for composite space structures, systems, and hardware. The candidate is required to perform planning, execution, scheduling, and resource management. They will perform trade studies, lead tooling and ground support equipment development, lead logistic and transportation planning, create plans and procedures, support engineering review boards, and interface with customers routinely. The candidate will work in an office and stand environment. Candidate will be required to ascend/descend stairs, work in a non-environmentally controlled test stand, and be able to lift up to fifty pounds

Requirements

  • Requires Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field.
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 8 years of related experience in the aerospace or structural testing.
  • Extensive understanding of hydraulic systems, load control systems, instrumentation, and data systems.
  • Candidate will be required to ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs in the test stand.
  • Candidate will be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams, design engineers, analysts, manufacturing, project management and customer representatives
  • Experience MOOG Control systems
  • Experience with HBM Data system
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, and ability to work with multiple interfaces
  • Experience in launch vehicle hardware and physical integration
