We are seeking a Composite Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development and enhancement of manufacturing processes for composite materials and assemblies. This role will focus on creating efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality methods to support production of advanced composite components. The engineer will act as a subject matter expert in composites, providing technical guidance to the team, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Assess current composite manufacturing processes and implement changes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain high product quality.
  • Design, document, and validate production methods for composite components and final assemblies.
  • Identify, recommend, and qualify new manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Collect and analyze shop floor data to prepare reports on performance metrics such as utilization, efficiency, and cost.
  • Develop clear and accurate manufacturing process instructions and conduct process validations to ensure repeatability.
  • Assist in resolving design, tooling, and process conflicts; support rework and corrective action plans to minimize future issues.
  • Initiate and process engineering change requests and orders to support continuous improvement and maximize resource use.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to established quality management systems and standards.
  • Interpret applicable industry and government specifications to maintain compliance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing or composites strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Epicor ERP system is a plus.
  • Six Sigma certification desired but not required.
  • Proficiency in CAD design software preferred.
  • Background in regulated industries and compliance requirements beneficial.
  • Strong expertise in Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, continuous improvement, cell design, plant layout, and mistake-proofing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of composite materials, fabrication techniques, and related tooling.
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Effective team player with flexibility to adapt priorities while maintaining a positive outlook.
  • Comfortable delivering presentations to internal and external groups.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions clearly.
