Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in composites preferred.
  • 1-3 years' experience in composite kit cutting, layup, and autoclave operation (aerospace strongly preferred).
  • Experience in an FAA Part 21 production environment or AS9100-certified facility desirable.
  • Knowledge of composite materials, resin systems, and curing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, ply schedules, and process specifications.
  • Familiarity with material control, freezer management, and traceability requirements.
  • Proficient in use of precision measuring instruments (calipers, gauges, templates).
  • Computer literacy for recording cure data, documentation, and ERP/MRP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work from work orders, process sheets, verbal or written instructions.
  • Diagnose and repair blade damage by replacing components.
  • Perform and support assembly or bonding together shaped components using adhesives and composite materials.
  • Perform other duties such as dry fit, autoclave preparation and cures as well as lay-up and vacuum bagging operations.
  • Cut composite plies and dry fabrics using manual and automated cutting equipment (e.g., CNC cutting tables, hand tools).
  • Identify ply orientation, pattern, and sequence per kit drawings and cut files.
  • Verify material traceability, shelf life, and storage conditions (freezer management).
  • Label, package, and organize kits for production layup with complete documentation.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools such as mallets, scissors, knives, dremel, sanders and drills.
  • Layup composite plies (carbon fiber, fiberglass, aramid, etc.) into molds or tools following engineering drawings and ply schedules.
  • Maintain strict control of fiber orientation, ply count, and foreign object debris (FOD) prevention.
  • Assist in moving fixtures as necessary or required.
  • Continuously give input ideas to improvements on technical documentation, work instructions and certification process.
  • Working to the highest safety and environmental standards whilst ensuring that targets are met.
  • Support internal and external audits (FAA, AS9100, customer).
  • Motivated by teamwork and a positive mindset.
