About The Position

The Component Test Engineer III at Blue Origin plays a crucial role in the development and operations of the New Glenn heavy-lift launch vehicle. This position focuses on ensuring safe and repeatable spaceflight through the planning and execution of component and subassembly test campaigns. The engineer will collaborate with design and operations engineers, as well as technicians, to identify test requirements and execute testing procedures, all while maintaining a high standard of quality and safety.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in engineering or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in component testing and data analysis.
  • Strong work ethic with high attention to detail and organization.
  • Excellent written, personal, and computer skills for effective communication at all levels.
  • Passion for spaceflight and space exploration.
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive professional relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in launch vehicles, satellites, aircraft, motorsports, or oil & gas industries.
  • Hands-on experience with pressurized, cryogenic, actuated, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, and actuators.
  • Experience with sensors, data acquisition, and automation systems.
  • Familiarity with precision clean hardware and systems.
  • Experience with Environmental Testing per SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540, or MIL-STD-810.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, qualification, and production test campaigns for New Glenn spaceflight systems.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to identify test requirements for mechanical, hydraulic, cryogenic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Work with operations engineers to incorporate tests into appropriate test stands.
  • Author and execute testing procedures in collaboration with technicians.
  • Identify necessary test fixtures, support equipment, and data acquisition systems for testing.
  • Drive efficiency gains in testing activities to increase throughput while ensuring quality and safety.
