About The Position

In this role, you'll be responsible for expertly preparing blood components from multiple blood collection bags , l a bel ing , record reviewing , and while following our precise S tandard Operating Procedures (S OPs ) to ensure top-notch quality. Your attention to detail will help us maintain the highest standards of product integrity, all while adhering to NYBC's rigorous guidelines , regulatory standards , and current good manufacturing practices ( cGMP ) . The component technician’s role is vital in ensuring the highest quality of products are delivered to our patients i n need.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED (some college science courses preferred)
• Attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Computer skills preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare and Process: Work with multiple collection bags to produce high-quality blood components, following all SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
• Document and Log: Accurately prepare and maintain documents and l electronic information related to receiving, processing, and labeling blood products.
• Maintain Equipment: Ensure that all equipment is well-maintained and that your work environment is safe and organized.
• Manage Storage: Oversee the storage of various blood products, ensuring proper conditions , in a temperature-controlled environment .
• Label blood products acceptable for transfusion by following SOPs and using our Blood Establishment Computer System (BECS)
• Package and Ship: Handle the shipping and packaging of products for research and discard, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
