The Component Inspector position at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, involves a comprehensive inspection of facilities, focusing on both the interior and exterior, as well as the mechanical components of heating, air conditioning, and ventilating equipment, including plumbing systems. The role requires meticulous documentation of all inventory data collected during inspections and facility turnovers, utilizing a computerized maintenance management system such as MaintenanceConnection and GFEBS. The inspector is responsible for preparing and maintaining records of inspections, which may include creating presentations and briefings as required. This position is essential for ensuring that facilities are maintained to the highest standards and that any maintenance needs are identified and addressed promptly. In this role, the inspector will work under limited supervision to assess the physical condition and functional performance of various facilities, utilities, and equipment. This includes capturing critical equipment data such as serial numbers, model numbers, motor RPM, and pump flow data. The inspector will also identify replacement timelines for major components and develop and maintain inspection checklists to ensure thorough evaluations are conducted. Field observations will be recorded on these checklists and entered into a computerized database for tracking and analysis. Additionally, the Component Inspector will integrate Installation Status Report Checklists with newly developed component checklists, develop inspection schedules, and analyze data to convey maintenance needs that can improve preventive maintenance programs. The role also involves monitoring maintenance, repair, and construction activities to adjust inspection frequencies and checklists accordingly. Participation in facility turnover meetings is required to verify and sign off on all maintenance documents, and the inspector will conduct predictive maintenance tasks while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures.
