About The Position

This full-time role is about making an impact on people's lives and the future of clean energy. You will leverage your skills and experience to be part of an innovative team and make a difference for our customers. As a Component Engineer in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the Component Repair and Replacement Business Line in the Installed Base Business Unit. While the majority of our work is in support of the existing operating fleet, the group is also actively involved supporting multiple new reactor concepts. Our current work scopes include detailed design of reactor internals, rigging and transport planning, and interference studies. The Component Engineer role is the key interface between the customer, our analysis team, fabricators, and our field installation craft. In this role an attention to detail and ability to balance competing requirements are keys for success.

Requirements

  • Completion of a BS in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline
  • At least 3 years of directly related experience
  • Good communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data
  • Ability to develop networks and maintain good interpersonal relationships
  • Works collaboratively within a team environment
  • Strong advanced problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Displays informal leadership characteristics
  • Questioning attitude and practices self-checking
  • Advanced level of Microsoft Office and business unit specific software tools (ex. CAD, FEA, CFD, etc.) and computer programming skills
  • MUST be able to obtain unescorted access to a Commercial Nuclear facility

Nice To Haves

  • Component/Structural Design including demonstrated ability to take products from drawing creation through delivery to the customer
  • Preparation of technical documents (specifications, operating procedures, etc.)
  • Experience working on commercial, DOE, or DOD nuclear projects
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and ASTM standards
