The Compliance Surveillance Department plays a vital role in safeguarding the organization’s commitment to ethical standards, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. Operating independently from business units, the department conducts surveillance reviews and executes compliance projects to monitor adherence to internal policies and external regulations. Through a structured approach, the team proactively identifies, investigates, and addresses potential compliance risks, ensuring transparency and accountability across the organization. By leveraging data-driven insights and collaborative processes, Compliance Surveillance reinforces a culture of integrity and regulatory excellence. Purpose of Role The Compliance Surveillance Intern supports the delivery of surveillance and monitoring activities designed to uphold regulatory compliance and internal policy standards. The role involves conducting reviews of trading and operational activities, analyzing data for potential compliance risks, and assisting with projects that strengthen the firm’s control environment. By leveraging surveillance tools and methodologies, the intern helps ensure adherence to regulatory obligations and internal guidelines.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in economics, finance, or risk management is required.
  • Genuine interest in one or more of the program’s departmental tracks.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship, including, but not limited to, F-1, J-1, and M-1 visa holders, as well as individuals on CPT or OPT.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform day-to-day surveillance monitoring tasks.
  • Assist with supported compliance reviews after initial training.
  • Conduct research and gather data for surveillance-related projects.
  • Document findings and maintain accurate compliance records.
  • Collaborate with team members on monitoring and reporting activities.
  • Prepare and present project results to a broader audience at internship completion.
  • Stay informed on regulatory developments and industry best practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s regulatory requirements under the SEC, FINRA, NFA, CFTC and other applicable exchanges and regulatory bodies.
  • Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.
  • Role model for demonstrating highest level standards of integrity and conduct and reflecting Company Values.
  • At all times complying with Marex’s Code of Conduct.
  • To ensure that you are fully aware of and adhere to internal policies that relate to you, your role or any other activities for which you have any level of responsibility.

  • To provide input to risk management processes, as required.
