About The Position

Allagash Brewing Company in Portland, Maine is hiring a senior individual contributor role, serving as our subject matter expert in compliance, ensuring our operations across manufacturing, wholesale, and retail remain aligned with local, state, and federal regulations in the alcoholic beverage industry. Your work will touch every corner of our business—from maintaining licenses and permits, to ensuring federal filings with the TTB are submitted with accuracy and timeliness. You'll be the primary advisor to leadership on compliance-related risks and strategies, acting as both a guide and a protector of our values and commitments.

  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory matters.
  • Strong communication skills to empower cross-functional teams.

  • Knowledge of state-specific regulatory environments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee compliance for each area where we do business, including evaluating sales and marketing practices.
  • Support export efforts and lead the licensing process in both Maine and out-of-state territories.
  • Craft standard operating procedures for product recalls and guide donation practices.
  • Manage bottle bill redemption compliance.
  • Work closely with external counsel on trademark registration and contract review.
  • Build and maintain internal systems to organize all compliance documents and processes.
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams like Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Leadership.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of every state's regulatory environment.
  • Serve as a Power of Attorney with the TTB and hold Notary Public status.
  • Act as an authorized signer for banking and licensing purposes.
