About The Position

Under the direction of the Executive Director-Compliance-STB, the Compliance Specialist will execute STB Compliance assignments for internal and external projects including vendor contract performance dictated by contract and regulatory requirements. This includes compliance with data handling, data reporting, security practices, regulatory requirements, data review, data auditing, vendors and departments within the CCSO. The Compliance Specialist will work with all CCSO departments as well as vendors to collect and review a wide range of data and audit reports demonstrating and affirming compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as vendor contracts, best practices, CISA and CJIS compliance. The Compliance Specialist will work with all necessary CCSO departments as well as STB departments including the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and ISO and their respective staff to analyze and evaluate adherence to compliance points as well as best practices. The Compliance Specialist will work with STB senior leadership to present findings to CCSO legal, financial and executive leadership. The Compliance Specialist will provide recommendations regarding compliance, adherence and remediation, where necessary, to STB senior leadership.

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in relation to specific duties and areas of assignment; supplemented by two (2) years professional work experience of a relevant nature; OR, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience pursuant to acquiring the knowledge, skills and other proficiencies indicated herein.
  • Knowledge of current CCSO policies and procedures: OR ability to learn and apply current CCSO policies and procedures in an efficient manner.
  • Possession of superb attention to detail and reasoning skills.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to walk long distances or stand for extended periods of time throughout the course of the assigned shift.
  • As needed, ability to work any shift as assigned to complete Compliance directives.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Skills testing will be administered

Responsibilities

  • Review and perform regular audit reports measuring vendor related to contractual requirements covering deliverables, requirements fulfillment, adherence to security and data handling best practices, and other elements as contractually defined.
  • Work with STB staff to analyze and summarize vendor-produced audit reports as well as reports and data gathered internally.
  • Identify potential risks or adherence deficiencies in internal and external requirements.
  • Present adherence findings to STB senior leadership.
  • Provide recommendations on remediating adherence issues when requested by STB senior leadership.
  • Assist STB senior leadership with the development and maintenance of compliance adherence and evaluation standards.
  • Coordinate with members of the Compliance Unit to improve overall internal and external vendor management and adherence.
  • Coordinate with members of the Compliance Unit to evaluate overall vendor adherence across the STB contract portfolio.
  • Coordinate with members of the Compliance Unit to evaluate overall departmental adherence across the STB contract portfolio.
  • Manage report and summary delivery timelines for multiple vendors and internal projects.
  • Provide proactive feedback in staff meetings or other forums to leadership regarding departmental operations and provide recommended changes to facilitate an efficient operating unit.
  • Help determine and develop annual goals and objectives and monitor progress towards those goals.
  • Accountable for project deadlines and successful completion of projects.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations regularly as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Responsible for monitoring adherence measures and reporting the status to the supervisor.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
