About The Position

COMPLIANCE OFFICER – PROTECT THE BUSINESS, ELEVATE THE STANDARD Are you detail-driven, analytical, and passionate about doing things the right way? At JRK Property Holdings, we’re looking for a Compliance Officer to lead compliance across our multifamily housing portfolio, ensuring our operations meet regulatory requirements while supporting strong, scalable business practices. In this role, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor and independent voice, partnering with Legal, Operations, and Asset Management to keep our policies sharp, our processes aligned, and our risk minimized. What You’ll Be Doing: Lease & Document Guardian – Oversee compliance across all residential leases, addenda, disclosures, and resident-facing documents across multiple jurisdictions. Policy & Operations Auditor – Review and monitor adherence to internal policies related to tenant screening, fair housing, accommodations, rent increases, fees, utility billing, evictions, and collections. Settlement Oversight – Ensure compliance with settlement agreements, consent decrees, and regulatory requirements across the portfolio. Regulatory Watchdog – Stay ahead of federal, state, and local housing law changes, translating updates into actionable policy, document, and training adjustments. Risk Identifier – Conduct audits, identify compliance gaps, and develop corrective action plans to mitigate risk. Strategic Partner – Collaborate with Legal, Operations, and Asset Management to strengthen processes and ensure consistent compliance across all communities. Reporting Lead – Prepare clear, actionable reports and present findings to senior leadership. Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local housing laws, including but not limited to Fair Housing (FHA), ADA accommodations, landlord-tenant regulations, rent control/stabilization laws, and consumer protection statutes
  • Strong understanding of multifamily operational practices, including leasing, screening, collections, evictions, and utility billing
  • Ability to interpret legal and regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, actionable policies, procedures, and training materials
  • Experience conducting compliance audits, identifying risks, and implementing corrective action plans
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess systemic risk across multiple properties or jurisdictions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior leadership
  • High level of professional judgment, discretion, and integrity, particularly when handling sensitive or confidential information
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-state environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across Legal, Operations, and Asset Management teams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with property management systems (e.g., Entrata, Yardi) preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Business, Legal Studies, Real Estate, Public Policy, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in compliance, legal, risk management, or regulatory roles, preferably within multifamily housing, real estate, or property management
  • Experience working with or supporting legal teams, regulatory agencies, or compliance functions required
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing or auditing multi-site or multi-state operations strongly preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with settlement agreements, consent decrees, or regulatory enforcement actions is a plus
  • Professional certifications such as CCIM, CAM, CAPS, CRCM, or similar compliance/legal certifications are a plus but not required
  • Experience in a vertically integrated real estate or private equity environment
  • Prior experience building or scaling a compliance function or framework
