Compliance risk is present in all bank products, services, and activities, and effective management of this risk is a fundamental part of the bank’s overall risk management approach. The Compliance Assurance (CA) department within Compliance Risk Management (CRM) serves as a second line of defense to help oversee and support the bank’s compliance efforts. We are seeking an entry-level Compliance Auditor to join our team. In this role, you will perform Compliance Reviews of business processes to help ensure that the bank’s organizations consistently follow internal policies and meet applicable regulatory standards. Zions is accepting applications for a Compliance Officer role for the Compliance Assurance (CA) department located in our downtown, Salt Lake City office. Located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, the Zions Bank Building serves as the headquarters of both Zions Bancorporation and Zions Bank. The building sits adjacent to City Creek Center, a world-class shopping and dining destination with more than 100 stores and restaurants. Requirements

  • Requires an associate’s degree in business, finance, accounting or a related field or equivalent working experience in banking/financial services regulatory compliance, risk management, audit, or other directly related banking operations experience.
  • A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of banking/financial regulatory compliance, compliance testing, auditing, financial principles, and regulatory issues.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state compliance laws and regulations.
  • Proficient customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective research, project management, organizational, analytical and problem resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years in banking/financial services regulatory compliance, auditing or other directly related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and scoping small, noncomplex compliance reviews of business processes in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Conduct fieldwork activities such as testing controls, gathering documentation, and performing walkthroughs to evaluate compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze transactional data and business activities to identify compliance risks, issues, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Perform root cause analysis to determine the underlying factors contributing to compliance deficiencies or process gaps.
  • Draft clear and concise audit reports summarizing findings, recommendations, and required corrective actions.
  • Monitor and track remediation efforts by business units to ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Communicate audit objectives, progress, and results with various stakeholders including business process owners, management, and compliance teams.
  • Maintain accurate and organized audit workpapers and documentation to support findings and conclusions.
  • Stay informed of relevant compliance regulations, company policies, and best practices to support audit work.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and ongoing professional development activities as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
