About The Position

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a talented compliance officer to join its Legal & Compliance team in London to help ensure that the firm's business activities in the U.K. and Europe are conducted in strict accordance with regulatory requirements. This position offers exposure to a wide range of the firm's trading strategies, and an opportunity to make key contributions to the design and implementation of the firm's UK regulatory compliance program in an inclusive and rigorous working environment. You'll join a highly skilled team that values thoughtfulness and collaboration, and report directly to the London CCO.

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor's degree.
  • Five to ten years of experience in a regulatory compliance role, preferably including experience working at an alternative investment manager.
  • Familiarity with financial markets and financial services regulations, particularly those applicable to FCA-regulated MiFID investment firms.
  • Excellent analytical, numeracy, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate new or complex concepts or regulatory requirements to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Highly motivated with a consistent record of taking initiative.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures.
  • Advise the firm's investment professionals on regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance staff in the firm's offices in the United States and India.
  • Support trading and investment activities conducted from London.
  • Work on long-term projects to enhance the firm's compliance infrastructure.
  • Maintain the firm's high standards of compliance with new and existing regulations.
