About The Position

A Glimpse of the Job The Youth Protection Specialist (YPS) is responsible for the administration, innovation, governance, and organization necessary to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor university, department and student organization initiatives that are categorized as Campus Programs for Minors (CPM). Essential Duties/Tasks Youth Protection Risk Management & Compliance Leadership Conducts risk assessments of proposed, new, and existing campus programs for minors to advise program leaders on compliance requirements, operational risks, and recommended risk treatment strategies Monitors known and emerging risks, measures internal control effectiveness, and develops action items to remediate identified risk issues Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and develops a plan of action to bring any non-compliant areas into compliance Drafts written narratives to communicate obligations, risk analyses, and recommendation Facilitates internal and/or external audits of youth programs, including providing information requested, coordinating responses, planning and coordinating pre-audits and follow-up audits Education & Outreach Advises and guides the University community on youth engagement standards and sound risk management practices Develops and delivers training and education programs for the university community Prepares supporting documentation such as student, faculty and staff communications, FAQs, and standard operating policies Serves as a resource for individuals who have questions or concerns about the university’s youth protection policies Youth Protection Program Management Develops and implements a comprehensive youth protection compliance program in accordance with relevant laws, regulations, and University policies Serves as the primary administrator for TAMU’s youth program software platform Maintains and applies knowledge of TAMU and TAMUS rules, policies, and procedures and relevant State and Federal laws Reviews, interprets, and issues recommendations on departmental youth engagement policies, rules, and regulations Consults on the development of Texas A&M University requirements for new system implementations and enhancements in youth protection Oversees monitoring of policies, procedures, and rules in relation to youth engagement developments University Risk, Ethics & Compliance Activities Manages other risk and compliance related projects as needs arise Assists in the investigation of potential violations of policies, procedures, or other regulatory standards Serves as a liaison between Texas A&M University System Audit and university departments throughout assigned audits Interprets departmental policies, rules, and regulations What You Need to Know Salary: Commensurate Special Instructions: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five years of related experience in compliance programs and/or activities
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively
  • This position is security sensitive
  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures
  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements

Responsibilities
