About The Position

MUSC Health is seeking a Compliance Manager to work as a partner alongside providers, practice managers and senior leadership to lead the way in better coding and documentation standards for billing compliance. The Compliance Manager will be assigned providers based on specialty groups, and work within those to better manage and mitigate compliance risk. This position requires a strong knowledge of billing and coding compliance, and comfortability speaking one on one with providers and in larger groups. The Compliance Manager will act as a subject matter expert regarding compliance regulations, and will form strong relationships with their customers through training, tip sheets, and one-on-one consultations. This position will support customers within MUSC Health, South Carolina’s only comprehensive academic health system, with over 18 hospitals and over 30,000 employees state-wide. Our growth and outreach is positively impacting health outcomes across the state, and our Compliance teams are a proud partner to the front-line healthcare workers that are making those impacts. This position requires 3 days of on-site work, with 2 days of remote work available, after completion of on-site training period

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required with a minimum of 2 years of experience in billing, coding, or compliance.
  • Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding, and medical terminology required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Must exercise sound judgment in advancing compliance initiatives in alignment with MUSCP Compliance Department and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency with a strong understanding of business principles, regulatory requirements, and auditing processes.
  • Experience researching and responding to coding inquiries and/or educating professional billing providers is preferred.
  • CPC, CCS-P, RHIA, RHIT or other medical coding certification preferred.
