About The Position

The Compliance Investigator for the Illinois Lottery is responsible for ensuring the integrity of lottery operations through conducting security audits and investigations. This role requires a keen attention to detail, the ability to handle high-pressure situations, and effective communication skills to interact with various stakeholders. The investigator will travel throughout the state to perform audits and respond to inquiries related to security and potential fraud.

Requirements

  • Completion of two years of college with coursework in law, government, liberal arts, history, or business/public administration plus three years of professional experience in law enforcement investigatory work, OR
  • Completion of four years of college with major coursework in law, government, liberal arts, history, or business/public administration plus one year of professional experience in law enforcement investigatory work, OR
  • Completion of the F.B.I. National Academy or comparable law enforcement schooling.

  • Working knowledge of modern law enforcement investigatory techniques and concepts.
  • Working knowledge of the functions and interrelationships of state agencies.
  • Knowledge of statutes, rules, and regulations concerning conflicts of interest or malfeasance of office.
  • Ability to recognize and gather appropriate statements and materials for prosecution or disciplinary action.
  • Ability to maintain security during investigatory activities.
  • Ability to prepare case reports for referral to prosecuting agency.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct security audits of state-wide Lottery operations and retailer compliance audits.
  • Assist the Chief of Investigations and other team members to ensure the integrity of lottery games.
  • Conduct confidential investigations regarding conflicts of interest or malfeasance of Lottery employees.
  • Respond to inquiries from retailers, players, employees, and management regarding security issues or potential fraud.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
