About The Position

In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of residential and juvenile facilities by conducting thorough inspections and evaluations against established standards of care. You will contribute directly to protecting vulnerable populations by supporting oversight, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in state, local, or federal correctional facilities, detention centers, or similar environments, including inspection or audit responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of inspection processes, auditing techniques, and compliance frameworks in detention-related settings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, juvenile justice, corrections, public administration, sociology, or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of PREA compliance standards and migrant or refugee care environments, particularly involving families and unaccompanied minors, is highly desirable.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and presentation development.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment and adapt quickly to shifting needs.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal capabilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to inspection sites nationwide.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of PREA compliance standards and migrant or refugee care environments, particularly involving families and unaccompanied minors, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site and remote inspections of family residential centers and short- and long-stay juvenile facilities to assess compliance with detention and care standards.
  • Perform annual and periodic compliance reviews, including reporting findings and documenting corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and submit them within established timelines.
  • Immediately report serious compliance, safety, or life-threatening concerns to designated oversight authorities.
  • Provide quality assurance reviews and compliance assessments across related operational programs.
  • Support the development, refinement, and implementation of inspection tools, methodologies, and procedures.
  • Deliver analytical insights, trend analysis, and operational recommendations to enhance compliance and performance.
  • Assist in preparing briefings, presentations, monthly summaries, and annual compliance reports.
  • Respond to compliance inquiries, allegations, and audit follow-ups with accuracy and professionalism.
