About The Position

The Compliance Inspector II position is responsible for conducting inspections and ensuring compliance with state laws and regulations in the cosmetology and barbering professions across South Mississippi. This role involves verifying licensure, inspecting businesses for health and safety standards, and preparing detailed reports of inspections. The position requires independent work under the supervision of the Mississippi State Board of Cosmetology (MSBC).

Requirements

• High school equivalency and 1-3 years of experience in site inspection or related fields.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong public relations skills and ability to interact with the public.
• Critical thinking and problem resolution skills.
• Investigative skills and ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and reliable internet access.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in inspections, investigations, law enforcement, or military background.
• Preference for candidates residing in specific counties: Lamar, Forrest, Perry, Pearl River, Hancock, Harrison, Strong, Jackson, Walthall, Lawrence, Jones, Covington, and Jefferson Davis.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and conduct initial, annual, random, renewal, and follow-up inspections of assigned businesses or professions.
• Verify licensure of professionals and businesses.
• Inspect and review businesses for compliance with health and safety standards related to licensure requirements.
• Prepare detailed written reports of all inspections and investigations and submit them to the MSBC within seven days of completion.
• Travel to various sites across Mississippi to perform inspections and investigations as assigned by MSBC.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
