About The Position

The Compliance Consultant at Novant Health is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements, including Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare. This role involves interpreting regulations, auditing compliance, analyzing applicable regulations, and supporting operational staff in identifying risks and recommending internal controls. The consultant will also oversee compliance projects and provide education on compliance requirements to the workforce.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred (MBA, MHA, JD, or other relevant Master's Degree).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the healthcare industry required.
  • Minimum 1 year of healthcare compliance or related audit experience preferred.
  • Licensure/certification such as CHC, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS, RN, LPN, CNA, CMA, MT(ASCP), RRT, RCP, Rpham, JD preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting standards and financial statement analysis.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of legal standards and internal controls.
  • Basic to intermediate analytical skills, including listening, interviewing, writing, and presenting.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of clinical documentation, coding, and billing.
  • Basic to advanced knowledge of researching regulations and compliance program requirements.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency with Microsoft applications and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to drive/travel to multiple locations/facilities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements including Medicare, Medicaid, and Tricare.
  • Interpret regulations and identify compliance requirements.
  • Audit, monitor, and investigate compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Analyze and apply applicable regulations to various inquiries presented to the Compliance team.
  • Support operational staff by identifying risks and recommending monitoring protocols and internal controls.
  • Educate the workforce about compliance requirements.
  • Review or draft policy language to reflect compliance and business-driven changes.
  • Oversee compliance projects, including planning and training team members assigned to projects.
