About The Position

The compliance intern will assist the VP BSA/AML & Compliance Manager & VP Systems and Data Operations Manager with certain aspects of regulatory compliance function by performing duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate a PC and use the common Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) as well as the Google Suite equivalents (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • Capable of using formulas to conduct quick data analysis in Microsoft Excel; must be comfortable doing lookups and pivot tables.
  • Enrolled in a degree seeking program relevant to finance/economics and or IT.
  • In the performance of their duties, all Bci - Miami Branch staff members are required to comply with all state and federal regulatory and legal requirements, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1979, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and the Bank Bribery Amendments Act. Additionally, all staff members must comply with the Bci’s Personnel Manual and Code of Ethics and other policies of Bci which are either currently in place or which may become effective during the staff member’s employment.

Nice To Haves

  • FIBA AMLCA or other Compliance Certification before or during employment would be a plus
  • Experience with the following systems is a plus but not required:
  • Experian Assist//ck
  • Microsoft Visio
  • Data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI (preferred) or Google Datastudio.
  • IBM i (AS400)
  • Ocean System’s ECS
  • Global Radar
  • Other banking applications

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementation of a new account monitoring model for the Compliance Department.
  • Assist in implementation and utilization of Artificial Intelligence tool(s) for training purposes by the compliance area
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external departments as it relates to tasks assigned
  • The ability to take initiative and strong problem solving skills in order to resolve matters that impact tasks assigned.
  • Conduct research, analyze data, identify trends, and prepare reports.
  • Identify and resolve issues and problems; includes but is not limited to reading through system documentation, conducting online research and speaking to subject matter experts at the branch
  • Identify trends, atypical situations, or other issues that may require special consideration or procedures
  • Present findings and/or recommendations when necessary
  • Manage multiple conflicting priorities while supporting the various process owners in order to meet department deadlines.
  • Lead or participate in projects tasks and or trainings as needed
  • Ability to understand, speak, read and write English and Spanish
  • Effectively speak before groups of customers or employees
  • Assume evolving duties and responsibilities of position
  • Work all hours required to fulfill job duties and responsibilities (including, weekends, evenings and holidays as needed)
  • Provide coverage for other positions when needed
  • Ability to carry and lift boxes and objects that may weigh between 10 and 25 pounds
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
