About The Position

The Compliance Analyst II supports the credit union’s Compliance Management System (CMS) by monitoring regulatory requirements, assessing risk, and evaluating internal controls to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws. This role conducts compliance testing and analysis to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and effectiveness, collaborates with management to develop corrective action plans, and assists with regulatory reporting. The Compliance Analyst plays a key role in promoting a strong culture of compliance across the organization and ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Legal Studies, or related field preferred
  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations, and compliance practices applicable to credit unions
  • Minimum of 6 years of banking or credit union experience across deposit, lending, and servicing operations (or equivalent)
  • At least 2 years of experience in audit, compliance, or quality assurance functions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory concepts clearly
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills
  • Working knowledge of regulations from NCUA, CFPB, and applicable state agencies
  • Experience with regulatory examinations, compliance management systems, and process improvement
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations and guidance to operational practices
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Adaptability in a dynamic regulatory environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance required

Nice To Haves

  • Compliance or audit related training preferred
  • Professional certifications preferred (e.g., CUCO, NCCO, CCBCO, CRCM, CCBIA)
  • Experience with compliance monitoring tools and systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interpret changes in federal and state regulations (e.g., Reg E, TILA, FCRA, UDAAP, ECOA, TISA, HMDA, RESPA)
  • Assess regulatory impact and support updates to policies, procedures, and internal guidance
  • Stay informed on emerging compliance risks and industry best practices
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of CMS Program
  • Perform periodic and ad hoc compliance testing to evaluate adherence to regulatory requirements and internal controls
  • Document findings, identify control weaknesses, and recommend corrective actions
  • Track and validate remediation efforts for timely resolution
  • Review and analyze member complaints to identify trends, root causes, and potential regulatory implications
  • Review marketing materials for compliance with applicable regulations
  • Collaborate with business units to evaluate effectiveness of internal controls
  • Prepare reports summarizing compliance monitoring and testing results, complaint trends, regulatory changes, and risk exposure for management and board committees
  • Develop and maintain risk metrics to enhance compliance reporting
  • Support annual compliance risk assessments and CMS planning activities
  • Assist in developing and delivering compliance training programs to business units
  • Support implementation of regulatory changes through cross-functional project coordination
  • Serve as a compliance resource for business units, providing guidance, interpretation, and control expectations
  • Maintain documentation, databases, and procedures related to compliance activities
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including webinars and industry training
  • Support new product, service, and process change reviews
  • Promote a culture of compliance and consumer protection across all business units
  • Support regulatory examinations and audits by gathering documentation and coordinating responses
  • Track findings and assist in ensuring timely remediation and reporting
