About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventative maintenance and repairs of large manufacturing equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, etc.). This role is essential in ensuring that machines are in optimal working condition and minimizing downtime due to unexpected breakdowns.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Vocational certificate in appropriate field (i.e. welding, maintenance, electrical, etc.) preferred.
  • Mechanically inclined with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, blueprints, etc. to diagnose problems.
  • Good computer literacy with ability to enter work records in appropriate program.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written; multi-lingual strongly preferred.
  • Ability to handle and resolve most issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize projects and a high attention to detail.
  • Strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level, and strong sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, including cleaning, oiling, lubricating, and changing belts as necessary.
  • Identify root cause of unexpected breakdowns of machines; repair quickly and efficiently to decrease downtime.
  • Record and report damaged, worn, or broken parts, ordering and installing replacement parts for machines as needed.
  • Prepare reports documenting work performed.
  • Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinate with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
  • Collaborate with department heads regarding new products and required modifications.
  • Make necessary modifications and implement test runs; confer with product manager regarding test results.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in all mandatory areas to promote a zero-accident culture.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
