About The Position

Chamberlain University is seeking a Clinical Instructor for the Complex Adult Health course, focusing on the needs of adult patients and their families regarding health promotion and management of conditions that require acute and chronic care. The teaching will take place onsite in a clinical setting with one of our clinical partners, typically involving 12-hour rotations (7a-7p) for three to four consecutive days. The role includes implementing the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system, and profession. Responsibilities include planning clinical experiences, providing direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students, and maintaining current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • A master's or doctoral degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • An unencumbered professional nursing license in the state of Missouri.
  • Illinois RN License will be required to teach all courses.
  • At least two years of professional experience within the last five years in the area of instruction as a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through clinical teaching and service.
  • Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching assignments.
  • Plan clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and evaluation of nursing students delivering nursing care.
  • Evaluate and provide documented feedback to students on their performance based on course objectives.
  • Be available for remediation of students as required or needed.
  • Orient and maintain current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Develop and post written clinical assignments consistent with students' knowledge base and individual learning needs.
  • Grade homework, quizzes, tests, lab assignments, clinical paperwork, and other written work in a timely manner.
  • May teach didactic course content under supervision of course coordinator.
  • Keep course coordinator informed of all student and agency issues and concerns.

Benefits

  • Expected compensation rate between $1,120 per assignment to $7,245 per assignment, depending on the credit hour assigned to the course.
  • Actual pay may be adjusted based on job-related factors such as type of course taught, experience and training, geographic location, licensure and certifications, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibility.
