Position Summary The primary duty of the Competitive Pool Technician is to maintain the pool chemistry and appropriate records to assure compliance with federal, state and county pool and spa sanitation codes and regulations. Competitive Pool Technician should coordinate with supervisors and managers when to test the water, clean pool and surrounding equipment for all three pools at the GAC. About the Venue Since its grand opening in 2011, the Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) has emerged as one of the top aquatic facilities in the nation. A state-of-the-art facility featuring cutting-edge concepts in aquatic design, the GAC is located on the campus of the Greensboro Complex, the premier sports and entertainment facility in the Southeast. Built at a cost of nearly $19 million, the GAC brings together all major aquatic sports – competitive swimming and diving, water polo, synchronized swimming and other unique sports - all in one venue. The GAC’s versatility offers Greensboro the opportunity to host high school and collegiate events, USA Swimming meets, U.S. Masters Swimming and U.S. Water Polo events as well as myriad local, regional, national and international competitions. The GAC’s impressive national swim meet resume includes numerous NCAA, ACC, YMCA and USA Diving competitions. According to the Greensboro Convention & Visitors Bureau, the estimated economic impact of GAC events exceeds $224 million.

Requirements

  • Must be currently employed at the GCC to join this transition group.
  • Weekend work schedule required.
  • Must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted in deep water.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have knowledge of standards and health codes for swimming pools.

Nice To Haves

  • Current CPO Certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of pools by testing water chemistry.
  • Record and report any variances or issues to Full-time Pool Technician.
  • Vacuum and brush all pools to maintain cleanliness.
  • Understand and be able to respond quickly and appropriately to fecal incidents requiring immediate action and following precise procedures.
  • Clean surrounding equipment and rooms by scrubbing, shining, and pressure washing gutters, handrails, steps and diving apparatus, lifeguard chair, decks, locker rooms, etc.
  • Report any maintenance issues.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.
