About The Position

Assists with the delivery of WIC services to assure compliance with all Federal, State and local agency policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must complete CPPA training modules and competency checklist within nine months after date of hire.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma, associates, or Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Work experience in same or related field with evidence of increasing assigned responsibilities, in WIC, health care, or social service teams.
  • Excellent computer skills in Windows Microsoft Office Suite - Word and Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior customer service skills required. This includes tact working with patients, families, and visitors.
  • Works in a team environment with the other clinical staff.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills when answering and returning telephone calls.
  • Prolonged sitting, primarily at a computer terminal
  • Occasional bending, stooping and stretching
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate in writing, in person and by phone.
  • Require occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Certifies WIC Program applicant
  • Performs biochemical and anthropometric assessments, data entry, check preparation, and participant intake procedures.
  • Determines and documents nutritional risk.
  • Provides primary nutrition education.
  • Prescribes food package.
  • Assists in check distribution and the teaching of group nutrition education.
  • Participates in breastfeeding support, promotion and monitoring activities.
  • Assists in outreach and other WIC-related activities as assigned.
  • Assists CPA to ensure timely completion of all required documents and reports.
  • Assists in the inventory process as assigned.
  • Assists in vendor related activities.
  • Participates in team/staff meetings; attends in-service meetings and applicable workshops
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
