Competency Restoration Counselor - PRN
About The Position

We are seeking a Forensic Restoration Counselor, PRN, to join our team. Starting rate of $25-$28 per hour Merakey is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Forensic Restoration Counselor to join our Mobile Competency Restoration Team (MCRT). In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting individuals involved in the criminal justice system as they work toward regaining legal competency to stand trial. This position blends direct service, psychoeducation, care coordination, and collaboration with legal and clinical partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, special education, related field, or equivalent experience.
- Valid California State Driver’s license.
- Travel is necessary to offer support across North Bay, encompassing Napa, Sonoma, and Solano Counties.

- Experience working with forensic populations preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and document individualized MCRT care plans in coordination with internal and external team members.
- Provide individual and group education, psychoeducation, and supportive interventions focused on the restoration of competency.
- Collaborate with the criminal justice system to ensure individuals receive the appropriate supports and services necessary for legal proceedings.
- Track and report progress toward competency goals, maintaining thorough records and preparing documentation as required.
- Support individuals through rehabilitative skills training and continued coaching to maintain competency throughout court proceedings.
