About The Position

EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Compensation Specialist. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD. This position manages all aspects of compensation administration, which includes benchmarking jobs against market data, and maintaining pay structures. The role performs data and cost analyses, provides strategic advice to management on compensation policies and regulations, and builds strong partnerships across the organization as a core member of the HR team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, human resources or related fields
  • 8+ years of experience in designing and administering compensation programs
  • Extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Extensive knowledge of human resource laws, regulations and best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a project team
  • Experience in data integrity analytics, reporting, and system control practices

Responsibilities

  • Research, prepare, present and administer compensation administration activities, including designing, testing and implementing system enhancements and automation
  • Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges and market trends
  • Maintain and administer job and pay structures
  • Interview and survey employees and managers to gather and document job and organizational information including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by each job
  • Assess jobs and their duties to determine classification as exempt or nonexempt and appropriate salary ranges
  • Advise management on applicable state and federal employment regulations and compensation policies and procedures
  • Prepare and present summary reports of job and compensation analysis information and routine compliance audits
  • Conduct data and cost analyses to be used in employee compensation activities.
  • Plan and communicate preferred methods and best practices for hiring, training, compensating, and evaluating employees
  • Build and maintain relationships with business partners and leadership across the organization
  • Participate in various corporate events as a member of the HR Team, including Take Your Child to Work Day and Business Reviews
