The Comparative Medicine Operations Specialist is primarily responsible for providing basic husbandry, handling, restraint, and health surveillance of laboratory animals in accordance with local regulatory requirements. This role also includes maintaining inventory of animal supplies and delivering basic technical support for research studies, such as restraint, injections, and blood collections. All responsibilities must be performed in compliance with applicable regulatory standards.

  • Perform routine animal husbandry duties as directed
  • Observe and report status of animal health, food and water consumption, appearance, behavior
  • Provide support in basic veterinary medical treatment as prescribed by the veterinary staff
  • Support cage wash equipment operations and maintenance
  • Support research by providing basic technical services (restraint, dose administration) to research investigators
  • Train and mentor new hires in animal husbandry and facility support duties fulfilling department training requirements
  • High school diploma, or GED
  • Minimum 4 years of basic animal husbandry and handling experience
  • Experience working with animals
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
