About The Position

The Compactor Repair Technician at Impact Environmental Group plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing compactors and balers used in waste management. This hands-on position requires diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical components, ensuring efficient operation of equipment to support environmental sustainability. The technician will work remotely, dispatched from home, and may also perform shop work when site repairs are not available.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Experience as a compactor technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and electrical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with limit switches, photo-eye sensors, and solenoids.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and identify issues with compactors quickly and accurately.
  • Weld and perform mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Use tools for diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of compactors.
  • Understand principles behind compactor operations and troubleshoot effectively.
  • Lift heavy equipment and perform physically demanding tasks associated with repairs.
  • Keep accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities.
  • Provide detailed reports of machine conditions before and after repairs.
  • Utilize advanced electrical knowledge for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Interface with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and troubleshoot related systems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and implement safety measures during repairs.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and colleagues about repair issues and solutions.
  • Manage time efficiently to meet repair deadlines and prioritize tasks based on urgency.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians in compactor maintenance and repair.
