Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of detailed hands-on experience with the configuration, administration, implementation, and effective training of Siemens COMOS in an EPC or chemical process engineering environment.
  • Direct supervision of an administration team for the stand-up and ongoing maintenance of a Siemens COMOS system over a period of at least three years.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously under time sensitive deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of Siemens COMOS software including FEED and P&ID modules.
  • Ability to configure 'out of the box' Siemens COMOS modules to meet defined business objectives.
  • Proficient with Visual Basic (VB) Scripting.
  • Ability to work with engineering discipline teams to understand their needs and how COMOS solutions can effectively meet requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced knowledge of Siemens COMOS EI&C, Logic, Pipe Spec, and Engineering Interface (with AVEVA E3D) modules.
  • International travel experience.
  • Experience working with a project manager with specific deliverables, timelines, and budgets for the stand-up of Siemens COMOS FEED and P&ID modules in an engineering environment.
  • Ability to understand and converse with different engineering disciplines on a technical level, particularly chemical process engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as global Siemens COMOS technical leader and COMOS design tool manager.
  • Work closely with the Engineering functional leader to help identify COMOS solutions to gaps and pain points in business needs, including leading workshops to perform gap analyses.
  • Provide solutions to fill identified gaps (functional design specifications) and implement these with the approval of the Engineering functional leader.
  • Ensure test plans for new uses of COMOS are relevant and effective at addressing business needs.
  • Lead to successful build of Company specific contents in COMOS modules for FEED, P&ID, E&IC, etc.
  • Manage and develop the overall configuration of the company standard buildout of COMOS worldwide.
  • Ensure that issues related to implementation of COMOS modules on active projects are promptly addressed in a sustainable manner for successful continued project continuity.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and development of a COMOS administration team consisting of Midrex, contractor, and/or third-party partner resources.
  • Train, support, and supervise the COMOS specialist teams around the world in multiple offices.
  • Ensure that all users who utilize COMOS for Midrex endeavors are effectively trained on the use and standards that are required by Midrex.
  • Interface with discipline SMEs to apply COMOS to workflows that align with business objectives.
  • Keep up with COMOS developments within the industry, particularly as they apply to EPC type companies within the iron and steel and chemical processing industries.
  • Prepare effective training materials and provide training classes and sessions to COMOS users.
  • Work with the IT team to develop an effective working environment for COMOS setup and maintenance.
  • Manage licensing issues with Siemens, and work closely with the IT team to ensure license continuity.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to bring value to Midrex with respect to COMOS capabilities, risk mitigation, quality, and cost.
  • Travel to office locations of Midrex’s subsidiaries, consortium partners, contractors, and customers as necessary.
