About the Role We are looking for a Community Support Worker to join our Individualised Community Living Strategy (ICLS) program providing outreach support to people accessing the service in Broome. The service is for clients with a mental health diagnosis who are eligible for a support package. The role of the Community Support Worker is to help the client access their local services and maximise their recovery success. This is a casual position with shifts across Monday to Friday in the hours between 8am and 4pm (no shift work!). Successful candidates will have previous experience working 1:1 with people with mental illness or psychosocial disability, strong communication skills and confidence in working independently within the community.

Requirements

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience working autonomously with people with mental illness or psycho-social disability
  • Passionate about client outcomes and mental health advocacy
  • High computer literacy and administration skills
  • An unrestricted Western Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • A current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Successful candidates will be required to clear all state-based probity checks; including but not limited to a National Criminal History Record Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated support clients with a mental health diagnosis, focusing on his recovery and community living goals
  • Coach and encourage independence through daily routines and decision-making
  • Assist with cooking, cleaning, and home upkeep, empowering the client to take control of their daily living
  • Encourage community access and engagement in local activities
  • Support capacity building and self-management of lifestyle and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and mental health support teams
  • Follow and contribute to individualised support plans
