About The Position

Everyone deserves a safe place to rest, eat and build their better tomorrow. Start empowering people experiencing housing instability at the Women's Housing Navigation shelter! The shelter offers a safe and welcoming environment to women experiencing homelessness in Albuquerque. The center is open year-round and offers meals, a warm overnight bed, and secure under-bed storage. We provide low barrier, trauma-informed case management, job searching and other supportive services. We work to guide guests through a successful exit from shelter to safe, stable housing, and a plan for ongoing support. As part of Chicanos Por La Causa, we believe in human dignity. Our work at the shelter goes back to our mission to drive economic and political empowerment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of progressive experience in general office procedures and customer service.
  • Social services and accounting background experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office and client management software.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate's Degree or High School Diploma and 2-3 years' experience working in social services or housing support programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides housing and support services to people referred from various support services agencies.
  • Coordinates case management services to participants in the Local Lead Agency (LLA) program, providing guidance in the apartment search process.
  • Conducts assessments with participants to determine goals, barriers, resource needs, and other factors related to case planning.
  • Acts as a broker for services and refers participants to community resources when necessary.
  • Coaches participants in living independently, including ongoing independent living skills development.
  • Acts as liaison between participants and landlords to mediate issues, building relationships/partnerships with landlords and outside support services.
  • Facilitates a Quarterly group for the LLA program participants/Stakeholders' meetings.
  • Travels into the community for various reasons, such as conducting home visits with participants, providing necessary transportation according to availability, and participating in outreach activities.
