Community Support Specialist/IDD
About The Position
This position involves providing services to adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, focusing on aiding with independent living tasks and daily life skills. Key responsibilities include providing transportation to and from homes and various community locations, facilitating meaningful daytime activities for community integration, fostering appropriate social skills, ensuring individuals meet responsibilities, and being responsive to their special needs. The role requires establishing professional working relationships with clients, family members, family staff, nursing facility staff, administration, therapists, employers, and workforce. The specialist must also drive agency vehicles responsibly within the region during working hours.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Have a Texas driver’s license
- Have a clear driving record for the previous 3 years
- Have a valid auto insurance card
- Proficient writing and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer & data entry essential
- Excellent time management and scheduling skills essential
- Able to satisfactorily perform job specific tasks prescribed in agency physical
- Able to bend, stoop, crouch, sit, stand, push, pull, kneel, and lift
