About The Position

Empowered Services is a one-on-one attendant care agency providing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) support and community-based services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in their own homes. Our mission is to support individuals in building independence, engaging in their communities, and living meaningful, self-directed lives. We are hiring a Community Support Specialist (DSP) to provide 1:1 in-home and community-based support for a young adult in the Corvallis, OR area. In this role, you will: Support daily routines and community engagement Provide consistent, calm, and emotionally attuned care Encourage independence and participation in meaningful activities Help maintain a positive and structured environment This position is ideal for someone who is patient, dependable, and confident supporting emotional regulation in a calm, steady manner. You will be supporting a young adult who: Enjoys church involvement, volunteering, equine therapy, and staying active Is kind, sensitive, and values connection and routine Benefits from clear communication, consistency, and emotional support May experience moments of frustration and needs a provider who can remain calm, avoid escalation, and provide reassurance This role is a great fit for someone who can provide steady support while building trust and encouraging independence.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Current auto insurance (meeting state requirements)
  • Ability to pass a background check (not all records are disqualifying)
  • Comfortable providing personal care support

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in caregiving, DSP, or behavioral support roles
  • Experience supporting individuals with I/DD
  • Experience with emotional regulation or mental health support
  • CPR/First Aid certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide ADL support (hygiene, routines, daily activities)
  • Support community access (church, volunteering, therapy, outings)
  • Encourage independence and goal development
  • Provide emotional regulation support using calm, non-escalating approaches
  • Maintain clear communication and consistency
  • Create a structured, supportive, and positive environment
  • Communicate updates with care teams and document services
